Milk and Honey

Rosemary is a wonderfully ebullient character (forgive me, Rosemary, for calling you a character). A member of the Guild of Food Writers; an advisor to Waitrose; a judge for the ‘Free From…’ awards; author of nineteen books, and a regular food presenter, Rosemary is a passionate advocate of local, ethical, good quality food. She also happens to live just a few miles away from me, in a charming little old thatched cottage. It was my good fortune to meet her in a pub a few years ago; we hit it off (everyone knew we would) and have been good friends ever since.

So I’m delighted that I’m going to be working with her over the coming months to produce a series of podcasts and videos under the titles of Kitchen Can and Milk and Honey.

Kitchen Can is something we’re doing with chef Ashley Thompson. It will be a practical look at food, based around topical themes, with an emphasis on recipes and showing you how you can actually do things in the kitchen. You can listen to our first one here, as we celebrate Farmhouse Breakfast Week with some delicious, home-made things to do for breakfast. Ashley has inconsiderately gone off to have a baby (well, his girlfriend has), so we will be doing more upon his return.

Milk and Honey is a little different and will be podcasts and videos of Rosemary and me exploring issues around food and faith. We will also be getting in a whole variety of interesting guests involved in all manner of different aspects of food. We’ve done two podcasts so far: one on Lent and one on Fairtrade, so do have a listen to those. And we’ve done a video that you can see here, showing how to make a lovely salad with Fairtrade ingredients. As you’ll see, we have a bit of a giggle along the way

We hope you will enjoy what we put together and find them interesting, entertaining and inspiring. You can subscribe to the podcasts on iTunes and keep an eye out for the videos on our websites and on YouTube.

As for that ancient Chinese proverb? Well okay, I made it up, but if I was writing such a thing that is what it would say.

Thanks both, very enjoyable, feeling more inclined to eat salad now that Spring’s on its way! (Will also remember Rosemary’s definition of virgin olive oil!!!)
