I’m delighted to say, next month I’ll be taking up a new role as Programmes, Partnerships and Advocacy Director for Embrace the Middle East – an excellent organisation that works with marginalised and vulnerable communities, supporting ME Christians in tackling poverty and injustice in the Middle East.
The Middle East is such a key region: politically of course, and also from faith, poverty and climate perspectives (the World Bank describes the ME as one of the most climate vulnerable regions in the world) so I’m really excited about joining the team and am looking forward to the challenge of being involved in that area!

Hi Ruth! Delighted to hear your new challenge/opportunity with Embrace. Perhaps not the most well-known Christian charity, but HQ just down the road from us in High Wycombe. Our church, St Michael and All Angels Hughenden, has welcomed Embrace speakers from time to time and we have suppported Embrace to a small extent financially. Your name is well-known to some of us, having studied your “Saying Yes to Life”. If you move home to HW you will certainly be made very welcome with us, though I suspect you’ll probably be able to work from your present home. Hopefully we’ll be able to see something of you, however that may work out!

Congratulations on uour new role, I served in the Middle East long ago but remember even then how pivital the area is. I met with Tony Blair opposing the planned Iraque War and that dreadful episode continues to contribute to the current turmoil.
